Abstract:: Introduction: The aging population in Austria is growing rapidly, with a significant increase expected in individuals aged 80 and older, rising from 5.9% to 12.1% by 2070. As musculoskeletal disorders are leading to hospitalization in almost every 10th case and half of rehabilitations are due to them, it is of high importance to investigate their potential impact on care dependency and mobility–related health outcomes. This study investigates the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among people aged 80 and above and within the age groups 80–84, 85–89, and 90+. Furthermore, it explores the association between these disorders and the overall score of the Care Dependency Scale (CDS), and the items “Mobility” and “Body posture”.
