Abstract:: SARS-CoV-2 caused a global pandemic in 2019, demonstrating the devastating impact that newly emerging infectious diseases can have. Beyond preventive measures such as social distancing and mask-wearing, mass testing became one of the central strategies to control the spread of the virus. To ensure reliable diagnostics, it is essential to investigate the influence of pre-analytical variables on the detectability of SARS-CoV-2. Our investigations demonstrate that both the choice of transport medium and storage conditions including duration and temperature, significantly impact RNA integrity.
