Abstract:

Sepsis is a heterogenous syndrome with a dysregulated immune response at its heart. Efforts are being made to identify more homogenous and clinically relevant subtypes. One conceivable way to identify such subtypes may be to analyze the immune response. The aim of this study was to investigate whether hyperinflammatory states occur in patients with urosepsis, which go beyond the inflammation that regularly occurs in sepsis, and whether such hyperinflammation is associated with increased mortality.
