- Abstract:
- Background: Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are mycobacteria other than Mycobacterium leprae and the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. Some of the over 200 known species, commonly found in water and soil, can cause disease in humans. Most infections are located pulmonary. A worldwide increase in NTM infections has been reported, but there is no data available from Austria, which is why the aim of this thesis is to investigate NTM infections in Graz over the last 10 years.
