- Abstract:
- In Austria, rare diseases in the field of paediatric and adolescent surgery are treated in seven different paediatric centres. Although it seems to be entirely reasonable to define further priorities, data on the latest case numbers and outcome analyses of the various departments are currently not available. Therefore, it is mandatory as a first step to gain current health data involving the social insurance companies for a transparent presentation of the current situation. Only then can a measurable analysis of the situation and a reasonable improvement in the treatment of patients with rare diseases in Austria be achieved
