- Andreas Holzinger is researching and teaching at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and promotes a synergetic approach of a human-centered AI to augment human intelligence with machine intelligence. Andreas Holzinger's current focus is on explainable AI and interpretable machine learning, where his expertise and pioneering work in the field of interactive machine learning (iML) with a human-in-the-loop and his experience in medical applications are very helpful. Andreas Holzinger and his group aim to make original contributions to the international research community, so that a human expert can understand the underlying explanatory factors of AI results - towards causality. This answers the question of why an AI decision has been made and enables ethically responsible AI and transparent, re-enactive machine learning. This is highly relevant for medicine, but also for business and industry.
