Fields of expertise
- My research centers on the study of sex-specific mechanisms of vascular adaptation and dysfunction, with particular attention to the interplay between pregnancy physiology, immune-metabolic stress, and long-term cardiovascular health. I investigate how early alterations in vascular function and structure emerge in response to physiological and pathological challenges, and how these differ by sex, gender, hormonal environment, and life stage.
Pregnancy represents a key model in my work, offering a unique opportunity to capture individual trajectories of cardiovascular remodeling and maladaptation. I view gestation not only as a physiological stressor but also as a lens through which to understand female-specific cardiovascular risk, both during and beyond pregnancy.
A central focus of my approach is the integration of clinical cardiovascular assessments with experimental models and mechanistic insight. By linking in vivo human vascular phenotyping with preclinical data, I aim to build a translational framework that clarifies the pathways leading from early vascular dysfunction to overt cardiovascular disease, with particular attention to sex-specific trajectories and modifiable risk factors..
