Abstract:
BACKGROUND: LASIK is the most common performed technique to correct ammetropia. MATERIALS: In this case we describe a patient with epithelial ingrowth into the interface after a trauma without flap dislocation. LASIK was performed 12 years before the trauma. Epithelial ingrowth was removed from the interface after flap-lift. The fibrin glue, applied to the cornea at the end of the operation, resolved 7 days postoperatively. RESULTS: The visual acuity increased to 20/20 on the 10(th) postoperative day and was stable over the entire follow up period of 18 months. CONCLUSIONS: Flap associated complications can still occur up to 12 years after LASIK.
