- Abstract:
- The Holter ECG is considered as gold standard for diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac arrhythmias. Nowadays, specific tools have evolved to document cardiac arrhythmias in certain situations: the patch ECG, the external event recorder and the implantable loop recorder. In the last years, wearable devices have been designed for consumers with the ability to document arrhythmias using ECG or photoplethysmography. This work gives an overview about currently available diagnostic tools for arrhythmia documentation and their pros and cons, as well as indications according to current guidelines. Furthermore, the possible future perspective for ambulatory arrhythmia documentation is discussed.
