- Abstract:
- Miniscrews are the means of choice when maximum temporary anchorage is required. Independency of compliance, low costs and a high success rate make these auxiliaries clinically relevant. The aim of this study was to investigate 246 inserted miniscrews. They were placed monocortically without pre-drilling and were orthodontically loaded, both directly and indirectly. The statistical evaluation showed a success rate of 87.8%. The main reasons for premature miniscrew loss were lack of hygiene and inflammation of the surrounding tissues. In everyday clinical practice, miniscrews are a good alternative to classical anchorage devices.
