Konfokale Laserscanning Mikroskopie erythemato-squamöser Hauterkrankungen: diagnostische Genauigkeit und Vergleich zur Histologie
- Abstract
- The majority of skin diseases may be diagnosed only by the assessment of associated skin lesions by the naked eye. In certain cases, only a histologic examination of a skin bipsy is conclusive. Taking a skin biopsy causes not only a discomfort to the patient, but is also time-consuming and costly. Additionally, results of the histologic examination aren't immediately available.
The in-vivo confocal scanning laser microscopy (CSLM) seems to be a promising approach to replace, in some cases, a histologic examination for diagnosis or follow-up of certain skin diseases. The procedure provides a non-invasive window into living skin at nearly histologic resolution and without causing pain.
Very little has so far been done in the area of inflammatory skin diseases. With the present project we want to investigate skin alterations in certain erythemato-squamous skin diseases, which are clinically difficult to differentiate and therefore mostly require a histological examination. Histologically, erythemato-squamous skin diseases reveal changes of the epidermis and upper dermis, which can easily be assessed by CM.
