As part of the Medical University the Department of Surgery in Graz sees itself as a surgical unit providing Southeast Austria and its catchment areas Styria, South Burgenland and Carinthia with top-quality medicine and final care. It is strongly committed to the motto of the Medical University of Graz: Research, Education and Patient Care: Together to the Peak.
From this it follows that Esteem, dignity and individuality of our patients are very important as our patients always take the center stage. Their fears, needs and wishes determine our way of acting. our patients receive state-of-the-art counseling and treatment. Research is done for the well-being of our patients. Researchers strictly adhere to ethical norms and the principles of good scientific practice and try to be among the best in international cutting-edge research projects. We strive for practice-oriented teaching and generating optimal conditions for our students to remain attractive for the education of future generations of physicians. It is of utmost importance to lay emphasis on the imparting of research results and the latest scientific findings in terms of patient orientation. We would like to offer our teachers and students the ideal working conditions and so cooperate with academic teaching hospitals and universities for applied sciences. Furthermore, we intend to advance the existing teaching competence of each of our employees is regarded as a valued asset. We work out obligatory management principles to exhibit respectful and motivating behavior toward each other. Our employees are interested in achieving performance- and demand-oriented objectives in a constructive and creative way. They are asked to exploit their full potential and scope for development and to bear the responsibility put on them. our lecturers and to strengthen the position of education as a whole.
